MIAMI — Viva Resorts by Wyndham’s newest beachfront property, Viva Miches by Wyndham, got its grand opening with a ceremony attended by the President of the Dominican Republic.

Other national and local officials also took part, including David Collado, the D.R.’s Minister of Tourism.

The grand opening follows the resort’s soft launch in December 2024.

In his remarks, Ettore Colussi, founder and President of Viva Resorts by Wyndham, noted that “38 years ago, we began our story in the Dominican Republic with a pioneering spirit. That same spirit led us to discover destinations like Bayahibe, and today it brings us to Miches with the same enthusiasm – reaffirming our promise to offer the best beaches, infused with the joy and hospitality that define us.”

Colussi added: “Viva Resorts by Wyndham is a true ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the world. We proudly carry the identity of our beaches, our culture, and the Dominican spirit to destinations like Mexico and the Bahamas. This, our sixth resort in the country, is a testament to our confidence in the Dominican Republic and in Miches’ bright future.”

With an initial investment of US$80 million, Viva Miches by Wyndham offers 538 guest rooms, five internationally inspired restaurants, entertainment areas, and all-inclusive services. The Viva Vibe entertainment program features themed parties under the sun and starS, such as beach parties, neon parties, and DJ nights,

A second phase is planned to expand the resort’s capacity to 750 rooms, bringing the total investment to $130 million. The resort is part of the Wyndham Green program, which promotes energy efficiency, reduced plastic use, responsible water management, and the integration of renewable energy sources.

The company also actively participates in Promiches, a public-private partnership focused on the sustainable development of the destination. Joint efforts include maintaining and cleaning the access road, supporting the local artisan network, and backing initiatives like Protortuga, a marine turtle conservation program.

“With deep gratitude and optimism, I officially declare Viva Miches by Wyndham open – a new paradise,” said Colussi. “Here at Playa Esmeralda, the experience of relaxing on beautiful beaches and enjoying the local and international cuisine that sets us apart has found a new and splendid home.”
