WestJet’s new service between Calgary-Edinburgh starts May 17

CALGARY — Scotland will get a boost in Canadian visitors next year when WestJet launches a new route between Edinburgh and Calgary next summer.

The route will operate three-weekly service from May 17 to Oct. 9, 2023, connecting the two cities for the first time. Flights will depart Calgary (YYC) to Edinburgh (EDI) on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays onboard the 787 Dreamliner.

Scotland and Calgary enjoy a long relationship, with the latter being named after the hamlet of Calgary on the Isle of Mull.

Earlier this week, WestJet announced its growth plans out of Calgary, which include new routes to Tokyo, Japan, its first-ever destination in Asia, as well as new service to Barcelona and Edinburgh. In total, WestJet’s 787 flying from Calgary will see the airline take flight to eight transoceanic destinations in 2023.
