Tourism Ireland kicks off ‘Green Button Festival’ for St. Patrick’s Day

TORONTO — For this year’s St. Patrick’s Day, Tourism Ireland is taking excitement to a new level by launching its first ever Green Button Festival campaign, following its Green Button Campaign previously launched in 2021.

To celebrate the spirit of community and human connection that Ireland has to offer, the campaign will bring the destination’s unique culture of music and dance to digital out-of-home screens across the globe. With the additional presence online, millions of potential visitors will be inspired to consider a holiday in Ireland this year.

As part of the campaign, Tourism Ireland is turning digital billboards in high profile locations in New York, London, Berlin, Milan and Sydney into stages for its Green Button Festival on St. Patrick’s Day. The festival can be viewed via Ireland.com. Social media users can look out for QR codes and ‘scan for music’ promos on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter that will lead them to the festival on their phones.

The Green Button Festival comes perfectly timed to Ireland’s removal of COVID-19 travel restrictions as of March 6, 2022. Visitors no longer need to complete a passenger locator form to travel, provide proof of vaccination or recovery, or take a COVID-19 test for entry.

However, all passengers who plan to transit through Ireland to visit Northern Ireland will still be required to follow the UK travel requirements, including completing a United Kingdom Passenger Locator Form.

Following examples of other European countries, authorities in Ireland have also lifted the majority of restrictions imposed due to the Coronavirus in an effort to help many industries recover from the damages caused by the virus, especially the travel and tourism sector.
