NASSAU — The Bahamas has further eased its entry protocols, eliminating the need for on-island COVID-19 rapid testing for all travellers.
Citing declining cases and international protocol adjustments, the Government of The Bahamas has announced that all persons travelling to the island are no longer required to take a COVID-19 rapid antigen test on the fifth day of travel, regardless of vaccination status, effective immediately.
However, it’s important to note that visitors must still following COVID-19 testing requirements for their return to their respective countries. As per Canada’s recently relaxed border measures, travellers have the option of taking a rapid antigen, instead of a PCR test, test taken no more than 24 hours ahead of their flight to enter Canada.
“It is important to remain fluid and adapt our protocols to reflect a changing environment,” said Acting Prime Minister the Hon. Chester Cooper, Bahamas Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation. “And we are pleased to be able to eliminate The Bahamas’ testing requirements.”
Visitors are required to follow prescribed entry protocols, including:
- Applying for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa at gov.bs
- Obtaining a negative COVID-19 test (either rapid antigen or RT-PCR) taken no more than three days (72 hours) prior to the date of arrival
- Uploading their pre-departure test results taken no more than three days (72 hours) prior to the date of arrival
