MIAMI — NCL’s newest ship, Norwegian Viva, is set to launch in June 2023 with Mediterranean sailings from four European homeports.

The brand new ship is the next vessel in NCL’s Prima Class.

The four homeports are: Lisbon, Venice (Trieste), Rome (Civitavecchia) and Athens (Piraeus). Med sailings will operate June 15 – Nov. 6, 2023 with eight, nine and 10-day durations.

After an inaugural season in the Med the new ship will head to the southern Caribbean for a series of winter sun sailings from San Juan. On Dec. 15, 2022 Norwegian Viva will depart San Juan on a seven-day Caribbean voyage with a first stop in BVI, followed by St. Maarten, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua and USVI before returning to San Juan on Dec. 22. Future sailings will also include top ports in the Caribbean for seven- and nine-day sailings.

With a design and structure mirroring that of sister ship Norwegian Prima, the 142,500-ton Norwegian Viva will accommodate 3,219 passengers at double occupancy.

NCL says Norwegian Viva will also have the highest staffing levels and space ratio of any new cruise ship in the contemporary and premium cruise categories, and the largest variety of suite categories available at sea.

Norwegian Viva will also offer a redefined The Haven by Norwegian, with 107 suites, sundeck, infinity pool and outdoor spa with a glass-walled sauna and cold room.

Norwegian Viva will also have only-on-Prima-Class experiences including the fastest freefall drop dry slides at sea with The Rush and The Drop and the largest three-level racetrack at sea with the Viva Speedway.

Other highlights include the Ocean Boulevard, the 44,000 square foot outdoor walkway which wraps around the entire ship; Indulge Food Hall with 11 varieties of eateries; The Concourse and its outdoor sculpture garden; expansive pool decks; infinity-style pools at Infinity Beach and Oceanwalk’s glass bridges above water.

Both Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva also feature cutting-edge alternative technologies, such as a NOx reduction system (SCR), that reduce the ship’s overall environmental impact.
