Scenic Group’s newest yacht, Scenic Ikon, set for April 2028 debut

VANCOUVER — Scenic Ikon, set to join the Scenic Discovery Yacht Fleet for its inaugural season from April 2028, will be the newest offering from Scenic Cruises.

At 26,500 gross tons, 205 metres long and spanning a 24-metre beam, Scenic Ikon will host up to 270 passengers in 135 all-verandah suites ranging from 34 to 250 square metres, over five decks.

The Scenic Discovery Yacht will be purpose-built for both polar regions and warm water destinations. Engineered and rated Polar Code 6 with an Ice Class 1A Super strengthened hull, Scenic Ikon will come equipped with two Airbus H130-T2 helicopters, a custom-designed Triton AVA submersible, Zodiacs, and luxurious superyacht Fassmer tenders.

“Scenic Ikon has been conceived, engineered and built with our in-house shipbuilding division at MKM Yachts and will be operated entirely by our own dedicated Scenic crew. This remarkable vessel is the result of more than three years of passion, innovation and development by our team, and we are delighted to share the Discovery Yacht with our valued guests, travel advisors and partners,” said Glen Moroney, founder and chairman of Scenic Group.

He added: “Every element of Scenic Ikon’s design has been optimized to deliver unrivalled experiences across diverse destinations and environments, from its primary base, the Mediterranean, to the wilds of Antarctica.”

Construction of Scenic Ikon is well underway, with milestones including a steel-cutting ceremony this past February, and the keel laying in May. The ship is on schedule for delivery at the end of 2027, ahead of final testing and entry into service.

Scenic Ikon will embark on its inaugural voyage from Venice in April 2028, which has already sold out.

The maiden season includes sailings through to March 2029 and will span 110 ports, 21 countries, and 26 new destinations. Scenic Ikon will sail the Med, Aegean and Egypt, the Cape Verde Islands, Dakar, Antarctica, the Falkland Islands and the Chilean Fjords.

Along with 15 dining venues, the ship will offer a 1,700 square metre, two-level Senses Rejuvenation Spa. Each voyage will also include all immersive excursions, exclusive events and entertainment.

With Scenic Ikon’s helicopter program, clients taking advantage of Super Earlybird offers will enjoy a complimentary flight.

Meanwhile the custom-built submersible, Scenic Neptune III — a Triton AVA-9 — will invite guests to explore the hidden depths of Antarctica and beyond.

A limited number of Scenic Ikon suites are available at pre-release pricing.
