October court dates in wake of new TICO charges

TORONTO — TICO has charged Hoa Van (also known as Kevin) Ngo, operating as Itravel Hop, with one count of operating as a travel agent without being registered.

It is alleged that Hoa Van Ngo sold travel without TICO registration, including a complainant who was left stranded abroad without return airfare.

Hoa Van Ngo will appear in court on Oct. 3, 2023, at 11 a.m. at 950 Burnhamthorpe Rd. W. in Mississauga, ON.

TICO has also charged Sonia Guillermo, Jerome Peralta, Amalia Lim and Leila Per with one count each of operating as a travel agent without being registered.

At times, they used the name Wintours Budget Travel.

It is alleged that the charged individuals advertised and sold tour packages on social media, without TICO registration.

Sonia Guillermo, Jerome Peralta, Amalia Lim and Leila Per will appear in court on Oct. 13, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at Old City Hall, in Toronto.

Individuals convicted in court of offences relating to the Travel Industry Act, 2002 are subject to fines of up to $50,000 and/or prison terms of up to two years. Corporations are subject to fines of up to $250,000.
