Cockroaches named after ex-lovers are being fed to zoo animals on Valentine’s Day

SAN ANTONIO — Anyone’s who’s ever dreamed of squashing their ex like a bug can finally get a real shot at it today of all days.

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the San Antonio Zoo is offering to name a cockroach after an ex-flame who did you wrong, and feed it to an animal as part of its ‘Cry Me a Cockroach’ event.

If the sight of a poor roach being eaten alive isn’t satisfying enough, scorned lovers can pay an additional US$20 to upgrade to a rat, which would then be fed to a reptile.

Who said romance was dead?!

To sweeten the deal, the zoo is live-streaming the feeding frenzy on Facebook today so that the broken-hearted can watch all the action remotely.

Names were submitted anonymously through the zoo’s website up until Feb. 13. Only first names will be displayed during the event.

Watch it all go down here. Happy Valentine’s Day!
