1. Onkar Travels has built up a great reputation particularly for its specialty markets like India. Can you tell us a bit about the company?

Singh: Onkar Travels is a leading wholesaler and retailer for airline tickets and holiday tours for all over the world, and specializing in India, Dubai, China and South East Asia, South America, South Africa, UK and Europe.  The company is well established and has an excellent track record over the last 34 years.

Onkar Travels began operations in 1980 and is now one of the largest networks of travel companies in Ontario with six locations and also associate offices in the U.S. and India. The head office is located at 2960 Drew Road in Mississauga.

Onkar Travels facilitates a strong team of over 250 agents working outside the office location (office or home) and also as other sub-agencies.

Last month we launched our new department, ‘Exotique Weddings’, for destination weddings  to India and Thailand. We are first company to organize royal weddings and beach weddings in India from North America.

We have 20 type of tours including Luxury Tours, LGBT Tours, Women Only Tours, Culinary Tours, Yoga Tours, Photography Tours, Senior Tours, Golf Tours and Student Tours.

I have personally represented the company by accompanying groups of 40 young female students at a time on tours and have ensured their constant safety by having extra company representatives and security with us at all times. We go out of our way to ensure that female travellers are well-protected in the hotels, on the road, in restaurants, etc.

2. How do Onkar’s years of specialization in India benefit travel agents and their clients?

Singh: Onkar Travels is a one-stop-shopping centre for travellers because we have our own ticketing section and own tour section.

Not only are we able to give our customers a complete travel package (i.e. the tour and the air tickets), but we do so at highly competitive prices as we are wholesalers.

We offer several choices for flights, hotels, car rental and tours that are suitable to the customer’s taste and budget. Customers are ecstatic about this, since they don’t have to spend hours researching it themselves, and moreover the end result is usually a big money savings for the customer too.

We give 15-20% commissions to our agents on tours to India. It is currently one of the best destinations to sell as every second person wants to travel to India. We have our own office and transportation in India, so we are not dependent on other suppliers and our rates are unbeatable. I also guarantee that I will provide responses to queries within 24 hours.
