Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar has “surpassed expectations”

MIAMI — Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts is marking the first anniversary of the opening of Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar, the result of a US$26 million renovation by the brand’s parent company Grupo Piñero.

The brand’s first full Escape Experience property is reporting increased rates of guest satisfaction and high occupancy rates throughout the year.

The company says that since its debut on Nov. 1, 2018, the 528-room adults-only Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar has “surpassed expectations”, ranking among the most popular in the brand’s 25-property portfolio in terms of occupancy, including maintaining the brand’s highest occupancy rates in the seven-hotel Bavaro, Punta Cana, complex with increasing levels of guest satisfaction.

During its first year of operation, the property recorded an average occupancy rate of more than 90%, with strong support from global markets.

The hotel’s Global Reputation Index (GRI) score, a global index that rates online reputation, has held consistently at 91%. Its Net Promoter Score (NPS), an index that measures a customer’s willingness to recommend a product or service to others, is 51% which is well above the industry average of 39%.

“This November marks a special occasion for Bahia Principe as we celebrate with great pride a successful first year for Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar,” said Helen Montijano, Vice President of sales and Marketing for U.S. and Canada. “In 2018, we initiated a company-wide effort to reorganize our portfolio into three experiences enabling us to better differentiate our product on the market and simplify the process for our guests to choose which best fit their vacation needs. A large investment was made in developing the Escape Experience and consequently renovating Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar to be the first property to align with that vision and fully offer the experience. The occupancy rates and customer satisfaction scores are the ultimate testament to the hard work our team put in to make this hotel a success and to our exceptional hotel family that executes that vision to the highest standard on a daily basis.”

The renovation involved updating guest rooms, adding 144 swim-up suites, revamping restaurants and updating programming and activities.

Programming includes Full Moon parties on the beach, theatre shows, live jazz music at the bar, cooking workshops, mixology classes and offerings on menus with premium cocktails, and a state-of-the-art gym and personal trainer.

While the property has been operating since last November, the official grand opening took place earlier this year, and highlighted some of the Escape Experience activities, including a burlesque show, rock show and silent disco.
