MIAMI — Greater Miami and Miami Beach recently welcomed a group of top-tier travel advisors from Toronto and Montreal during an Air Canada-supported FAM trip.
Held from May 5-8 to coincide with Travel Advisor Appreciation Day on May 7, the FAM was hosted by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), Sunny Isles Beach Tourism Council and Air Canada, giving eight Canadian advisors an up-close look at the destination’s evolving tourism offerings – from revamped hotels and cultural hotspots to exciting new culinary options.
“As Miami gears up for an exciting pipeline of new developments this year and through 2026, Canadian travellers can continue to expect great connectivity via Air Canada and a welcoming environment filled with adventure, value, and sunshine year-round. This FAM is a testament to GMCVB’s commitment to the Canadian market and a showcase of how the destination is constantly evolving to meet the desires of modern travellers,” said Debra Lee, Director of Travel Industry Sales, Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The visit began with lunch at 1-800-LUCKY in Wynwood, offering a taste of Miami’s diverse Asian cuisine scene, followed by check-in at the brand-new Residence Inn Sunny Isles Beach. Centrally located between Aventura Mall and Bal Harbour Shops, the hotel served as the ideal base for exploring the city.
The dynamic itinerary featured experiences such as a Little Havana Culinary Tour, a guided exploration of Wynwood Walls, and a whimsical visit to the Museum of Ice Cream. Hotel site inspections included standout and recently updated properties like JW Marriott Turnberry, Courtyard Coconut Grove, The Standard Spa Miami Beach, Nautilus Sonesta, and UMA House.
Evenings highlighted Miami’s multicultural flair, with a Cinco de Mayo celebration at El Tropico and a tango dinner show at Conventillo. The group also toured PortMiami – the world’s largest cruise terminal, with a capacity of up to 36,000 passengers – and explored the Miami Worldcenter, Florida’s largest retail and entertainment venue.
Canadian interest in Miami continues to trend upward, with hotel bookings from Canada up 8% year-over-year for stays between January and June 2025. The destination’s appeal is bolstered by new hotel openings, renovations, diverse dining, family attractions and its position as a major cruise gateway.
Travellers visiting in May can take advantage of Museum & Attractions Month , offering discounts across numerous cultural sites until May 31. Looking ahead, Miami Spa Month runs from July 1 to Aug. 31, and Miami Spice Restaurant Month kicks off Aug. 1 through Sept 30.
