HALIFAX — Congratulations are in order for Maritime Travel, which was just named one of the Top 25 Best Employers in Canada for 2019 by Aon Canada.
Revealed in Aon’s annual study, the results are based on the opinions of more than 200,000 employees across approximately 240 different Canadian organizations from every sector. Organizations that scored in the top 25% and have more than 400 permanent Canadian employees achieved Platinum Level.
Maritime Travel is the only Atlantic Canada-based company to win the Platinum award.
“Our travel counsellors are among the best and most knowledgeable in the business,” said Chairman and CEO Rob Dexter. “They are our strength. To know they are among the most highly engaged workforces in the country is particularly rewarding.”
The primary requirement for being recognized as a Best Employer is creating and sustaining highly engaged employees, something that’s measured by asking employees at participating organizations directly through a survey. According to Aon’s definition, employees are engaged when they “say, stay and strive.”
Other benchmarks include employee’s perceptions of senior leadership, people-manager effectiveness, enabling employee productivity, and valuing and appreciating employees.
The Best Employers study is now entering its 20th year.
