TORONTO — Goway Travel has introduced special booking policies for clients travelling to the Middle East as the company works to manage disruptions following escalating tensions in the region.
The update comes after a missile strike on Iran by the United States and Israel last weekend, which triggered widespread travel disruptions. Multiple countries across the Middle East have closed their airspace, forcing airlines to cancel or reroute flights and leaving thousands of travellers — including Canadians — stranded.
In a statement sent to Travelweek, Goway said it is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with its partners across the region.
“Goway Travel is actively monitoring the evolving situation in the Middle East and collaborating closely with our local partners. We are remaining agile as our partners on the ground respond to the rapidly evolving situation. Our primary focus is on the safety and well-being of our customers, team members, and partners. Our team of Destination Specialists, combined with our Client Experience team – who are available 24/7 through email, phone and text – are actively working with our clients to resolve issues and make alternate plans,” reads the statement.
To support clients and travel advisors affected by the disruptions, Goway implemented temporary booking policies beginning March 3.
For bookings departing now through March 14, 2026, clients may cancel the land portion of their file for a full refund. Travel advisors will retain their full commission on those bookings.
For clients scheduled to travel between March 15–31, 2026 who choose to cancel, Goway will provide a Future Travel Credit (FTC) for the land portion of the booking, valid for future travel to the original destination by March 31, 2027.
For all clients choosing to proceed with an FTC, Goway will fully protect the travel agent’s commission on the original booking.
Flight cancellations for all affected travel periods will remain subject to the airline’s terms and conditions.
Goway joins a growing list of tour operators that have cancelled tours and updated rebooking policies, including G Adventures, Intrepid, Globus family of brands and TTC Tour Brands.
