Wellness Tourism Association relaunches with new ownership and leadership

TAMPA — The Wellness Tourism Association (WTA), a recognised authority in global wellness tourism, has relaunched as a for-profit organization under the ownership and leadership of Robin Ruiz, Founder and CEO of WITT (Wellness in Travel & Tourism).

Ruiz now serves as WTA’s President and CEO. Anne Dimon, Co-Founder and Founding President/CEO, will remain involved as an advisor during the transition and will serve on the forthcoming WTA Advisory Board.

“We had several companies express interest in reviving the WTA,” said Dimon. “But Robin’s passion, mission-driven leadership, and success with WITT made her the natural choice to carry the WTA forward for members and the industry.”

Originally founded in 2018 as a U.S.-based nonprofit, the WTA has played a key role in shaping the wellness tourism industry by building a worldwide network of destination marketing organisations, suppliers, travel advisors, practitioners, retreat leaders, media and aligned partners. The organization also published the first Glossary of Wellness Tourism Terms, conducted foundational research and consumer surveys, and created the inaugural Wellness Travel Specialist Course in partnership with The Travel Institute.

The relaunch aims to unite industry leaders, foster connections and community, and enhance WTA’s role as a centre for advocacy, education, collaboration and events. Members can expect expanded benefits, new educational programmes and industry initiatives.

“The WTA has been a beacon in wellness tourism – and its voice is still needed,” said Ruiz. “This relaunch is a recommitment to changemakers who see travel as a force for well-being. I intend to honour the WTA’s legacy, build on its foundation and reintroduce it as a space for new voices, ideas and a vital resource for the industry’s future.”
