MISSISSAUGA — TICO has issued an Immediate Temporary Suspension Order to City of Stars Travel Inc., a travel agency with two registered locations in Markham, Ont.
It is alleged that City of Stars Travel Inc. failed to comply with the Travel Industry Act, 2002. This includes concerns about their financial position and conduct, such as operating locations without proper authorization and failing to maintain a permanent place of business.
According to TICO, there are reasons to believe that City of Stars Travel Inc. will not conduct business in accordance with the law, and with integrity and honesty.
The two orders to suspend registration have been issued to City of Stars Travel Inc. – Retail (TICO Registration #50028211) at 7270 Woodbine Ave., Suite 207, and City of Stars Travel Inc. – Retail Branch (TICO Registration # 50028340) at 3255 Highway 7 E. Unit 113.
Additionally, City of Stars Travel Inc. was operating from unregistered branch office locations, including:
- Pacific Mall, Cl-4300 Steeles Ave E, Markham, ON L3R 0Y5
- New Kennedy Square, 80-8360 Kennedy Rd, Markham, ON L3R 5Y7
- King Square Shopping Centre, 2E16-9390 Woodbine Ave,
Markham, ON L6C 0M5 - Woodside Square, Unit 412-1571 Sandhurst Cir, Scarborough, ON M1S 5J9
As per the orders, City of Stars Travel Inc. must cease all travel sales and counselling activity immediately.
TICO has also issued a Notice of Proposal to Revoke the registration of City of Stars Travel Inc.
The travel agency is entitled to a hearing by the Licence Appeal Tribunal about the proposal to revoke its registration.
