Quebec agents discover beauty of Costa Rica on FAM trip

TORONTO — It was a sun-soaked week spent in nature and among wildlife for 18 travel agents from Quebec who recently travelled to Costa Rica for a fun-filled FAM.

Hosted by the Costa Rica Tourism Board and escorted by Gustavo Inciarte from VoX International, the seven-night trip kicked off with a destination trade show during which agents met with tourism industry partners. The group then embarked on a guided tour of San Jose that highlighted the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the national Theater of Costa Rica, Plaza de la Cultura, Templo de la Música, and Edificio Metallico.

From there, the agent split into two groups and headed to different areas of the country. One group explored the cloud forests of Monteverde where they enjoyed a tour of a local coffee farm before moving on to Rio Celeste for a hike to the famous azul-coloured waterfall and a caco farm tour. They also visited Tamarindo where they kayaked and enjoyed free time on the beach.

The second group headed towards Tortuguero for a river boat ride through narrow canals into the heart of Tortuguero National Park where they stayed overnight at Mwamba Lodge. While there they explored the small, local town where they had the chance to interact with locals and learn about their way of life. From there they visited the small seaside villages of Cahuita and Puerto Viejo to experience the area’s tropical beaches and lush national parks, home to monkeys and sloths.

All agents on the FAM had completed the Costa Rica Specialist Agent Program, launched on Travelweek’s Learning Centre. To learn more about the program click here
