Pull up, pull up! Pilots mistake road for runway

JAIPUR — Two pilots have been taken off flight duty after mistaking a road for a runway.

The pilots were bringing the IndiGo plane in for a landing at Jaipur, India when they got a “too low terrain” warning from air traffic control, according to TravelMole.

Reports say the plane was less than 300 metres from the ground and less than two minutes from landing on the road. “The captain immediately carried out a go-around. The aircraft landed safely on a subsequent approach,” said an IndiGo spokesperson. The incident happened in February but only just came to light.
