If there was one person who could truly be called an icon of the travel industry, it was Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart.
TORONTO — A new incentive from The Travel Agent Next Door aims to help the host agency’s members achieve fitness goals while helping one of TTAND’s top charity partners, Pencils for Kids.
FITTRIP encourages agents to get involved in physical activity with an 8-week program where agents get the chance to win prizes through weekly challenges.
FITTRIP kicked off July 6 and runs through Aug. 30, culminating in a grand prize draw.
“We wanted to encourage all our agents to maintain some level of fitness if they are able to, as well as raise funds for Pencils for Kids,” said TTAND founder, Flemming Friisdahl. “We are very grateful to our supplier partners for their prize donations to this program.”
One of the challenges with the COVID-19 quarantine restrictions has been keeping up fitness levels. With FITTRIP, for every 20 minutes of exercise that an agent participates in, they get one entry into the grand prize draw to win one of six trips available.
The trips have been sponsored by several of TTAND’s preferred and approved suppliers, including Globus, ACV, TravelBrands, AmaWaterways, Tourcan, Star Clippers and RCI.
To keep the contest fair Friisdahl says entries will be limited to three per day. FITTRIP has over 50 different types of activities to participate in, with something for all fitness levels.
Plus, for every $10 an agent donates to TTAND’s long-time charity partner Pencils for Kids, agents will receive an entry into the grand prize draw. This is an option for those who may not be physically able to exercise, to still be eligible for prizes.
Already more than $2,928 has been donated to Pencils for Kids, less than a week after the challenge was launched. TTAND matched the first $2,000 donated. Agents can send their clients a sponsorship page for participating in the challenge, and money will go directly to Pencils for Kids.
An additional 24 prizes can be won by participating in the weekly challenges. A new challenge is posted every Monday for agents to compete in. The 24 prizes range from a 3-night stay in Mexico donated by Playa Resorts to a two-day car hire with Avis/Budget to gift cards donated by Gateways, Hurtigruten and Transat.
