Travel Agent Day took place on May 4, and a slew of tour operators and companies are commemorating the special day with attractive deals and incentives.

Agents can now earn 3x points when booking in May with Alamo, National or Enterprise for all qualifying rentals completed by June 15, 2016. Agents start earning points for every qualified booking from 1-14 days that results in a rental. Cash is awarded on Visa prepaid gift cards.
Collette is celebrating Travel Agent Day all month long with an exclusive fam contest. The winning agent will be awarded a free spot on one of Collette’s most popular fam tours, plus bring along a companion. The 10-day ‘British Landscapes’ tour departs on Nov. 17-26 and includes two nights in London, one night in York, two nights in Edinburg, one night in Ruthin and two nights in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Every Collette cooking agents make in May enters them to win. The fam is land only – agent and companion are responsible for airfare.
Auto Europe is reminding agents that they, too, can enroll in its ‘Drive Your Rewards’ program and start earning credits for a long list of rewards. Prizes range from a $25 Amazon gift card to a seven-night stay in London. They’ll also benefit from guaranteed best commissions, one free day of car rental with every client booking, savings of up to 30% of European car rental services, free guaranteed upgrades in select European countries, free portable GPS rental during car rental, and no cancellation fee up to the minute before pickup time. Since April 7, TravelBrands has offered agents 1% extra commission for all bookings made by May 14 on all products, plus an extra 3% for all car rental bookings. Now, in addition to the extra commission, the company is offering 2x the loyalty points for all bookings made online, plus 20% off all merchandise from its loyalty platform.
WestJet’s Travel Agent month-long celebrations include the return of its ‘Hooray for Tas’ contest, taking place from May 2-31. Eligible agents can submit their WestJet flight and WestJet Vacations bookings or correctly answer WestJet-themed trivia questions for a chance to win one of 30 prizes, which include WestJet Vacations packages and 20 roundtrip airfares for two. Plus, fare bookings or bookings that include advance seat selection will provide an even greater chance to win. Other initiatives that will be rolled out this month include a new travel agent resource site (westjettravelagents.com), the 2016-2017 WestJet Vacations brochure, and the second annual Travel Trade Expos running throughout May across Canada.
Transat’s Travel Agent Day promotion includes five times as many Bonbon on all bookings, all departures and all product. This offer is valid on May 4 only, on all individual bookings made for Europe, cruises, packages, FIT and air only. It is not valid on group bookings.
Club Med is celebrating travel agents for the entire month of May with its ‘Thank you à la Club Med’ campaign, which includes the chance for agents to escape every week. The rules are simple: agents must find various objects hidden in videos; a new video is published each week.
- Week 1: ‘Relaxing Escape.’ Find the object in the video of Club Med Punta Cana and you could win a certificate for an anti-stress massage.
- Week 2: ‘Sporty Escape.’ Find the object in the video of Club Med Sandpiper Bay and you could win two tickets to a circus show.
- Week 3: ‘Foodie Escape.’ Find the object in the video of Club Med Val Thorens Sensations and you could win a certificate for a gourmet meal.
- Week 4: ‘Escape à la Club Med.’ Find the object in the video of Club Med Cancun Yucatan and you could win a certificate for an all-inclusive vacation for two at Club Med.
On May 4, Sunwing Vacations is offering a one-time special promotion that allows agents to earn double STAR Agent Reward points that convert into cash on any new vacation package, with departures between May 5, 2016 and Oct. 31, 2017. For this week only, Contiki is offering agents the chance to earn an extra $50 commission voucher when booking a client on a Contiki trip seven days or longer. This offer is valid on bookings made between May 2-8. Bonus commission will be emailed to agents once deposit has been applied.
Agents who book an Insight Vacations escorted journey from May 2-6 will automatically receive an additional $50 Bonus Commission. In addition, reoccurring this year, seven of the top selling agents in Canada will earn a spot on Insight’s air included journey to Italy in November on its annual Top Sellers FAM. Plus, the top four producing agents (selling Luxury Gold) in Canada will be eligible to earn a spot to experience France in style with the Luxury Gold by Insight Vacations agent fam.

Exodus Travels is celebrating Travel Agent Appreciation Day by donating to Nepal on behalf of agents across the country. For every Canadian travel agent who subscribes to Exodus’ trade e-newsletter, joins Exodus’ Agent Facebook Group or shares Exodus’ recent ‘Nepal: One Year On video, the tour operator will donate a high performance NOKERO solar light to a rural Nepalese family affected by the earthquake that devastated the country in April 2015. Air Canada Vacations is offering agents 25% savings when redeeming their ACV&ME points for travel vouchers throughout the month of May. Available until May 31, the offer allows travel agents to redeem just 3,750 points – instead of the standard 5,000 – for a $50. The ACV&ME loyalty offers travel agents a variety of ways to earn points for their bookings. These include: 600 points per room for all air-inclusive packages of seven nights or more; 400 points per room for all air-inclusive packages of three to six nights; 600 points per stateroom for every Air & Cruise package of seven nights or more; and 300 points for every passenger of a group. Points must be redeemed 12 months after they have been issued.
G Adventures is celebrating Travel Agent Day with the launch of its #GLovesAgents program. From May 4 – 10 Canadian agents will have a chance to win a number of prizes including a trip for two from the recently launched National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures collection.
