Hyatt reopens Secrets Playa Mujeres following extensive renovation

CHICAGO — Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the reopening of Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort following an extensive renovation aimed at enhancing the guest experience at the adults-only, all-inclusive property.

Located within the gated community of Playa Mujeres, approximately 35 minutes north of Cancun International Airport, the 424-room AAA Four Diamond resort is set alongside a Greg Norman-designed golf course and overlooks white-sand beaches and the Caribbean Sea.

“We are thrilled to debut the newly renovated Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort following extensive enhancements to elevate the guest experience,” said Mauricio Martinez, general manager of Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort. “The resort delivers Secrets Resorts & Spas signature blend of romance, relaxation, and elevated experiences, while also offering guests seeking a more active getaway access to a world-class golf course and a unique mix of leisure and stunning coastal scenery that truly sets it apart.”

All guestrooms have been reimagined with a contemporary coastal design inspired by ocean tones and natural textures. Updated layouts feature soft fabrics, organic shapes and calming colour palettes intended to create a relaxed and intimate atmosphere for couples.

For guests seeking additional exclusivity, the Preferred Club now includes a newly constructed two-storey building with a dedicated check-in lounge on the first level and an oceanview restaurant on the second. A new private beach club has also been added, offering a quiet setting overlooking the sea for daytime relaxation and sunset experiences.

Several public spaces across the resort have been refreshed to improve flow and arrival experiences. The Rendezvous lobby bar has been relocated to the former main lobby, while the check-in area has been moved closer to guestrooms. Enhanced meeting facilities are also available for group business, meetings and incentive travel.

Dining and nightlife venues have also been updated as part of the renovation. Desires Night Club and Coco Café now feature refreshed atmospheres, while Portofino continues to offer Italian cuisine in an updated setting. Additional enhancements, including the transformation of Bordeaux into an Amazonian-inspired dining venue, along with upgrades to the Secrets Spa, are expected to debut in mid-February.

Guests at Secrets Playa Mujeres also receive complimentary access to the neighbouring Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort, expanding dining and activity options during their stay.
