Fairmont to open new Calgary property in 2031

CALGARY —Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of Fairmont Calgary, a new luxury hotel development slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2031.

The 225-room property will be developed in partnership with Truman and will be located within Calgary’s Greater Downtown. The new mixed-use project will include guestrooms, a signature spa and wellness offering, extensive meetings and events facilities and 100 luxury branded residences.

Fairmont Calgary is positioned to benefit directly from the ongoing transformation of Stampede Park and the broader Culture and Entertainment District. The area’s revitalization has been anchored by the government-funded $500 million expansion of the BMO Centre, completed in 2024. The expanded facility is now Western Canada’s largest convention centre and has been supported by infrastructure improvements, new public spaces and enhanced transit access aimed at attracting increased visitation and large-scale events.

Omer Acar, CEO, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts said, “We are honored to play a role in this incredible new property at such a pivotal moment in Calgary’s development. Adding a second property in this flourishing city where the beloved Fairmont Palliser currently resides will be a significant achievement, and reinforces Fairmont’s leadership position in Western Canada, as well as strengthens our long-term brand commitment to Calgary as a destination. Fairmont Calgary will become an exciting new social hub for the local community, hotel guests and residents alike, blending both tradition and modernity.”

The project will bring together an international team of architects and designers to deliver the mixed-use building, which will combine a Fairmont hotel with branded residential offerings. Design concepts are expected to be announced and the regulatory approvals process initiated in the first quarter of 2026. Once complete, the development is expected to generate economic benefits through construction employment as well as long-term hospitality jobs.
