TORONTO — A red and white celebration of the True North Strong and Free drew cheers, revelry and plenty of great networking at Travelweekʻs ʻProudly Canadianʻ rooftop party last night.
The annual event, held high atop 130 Queens Quay East in downtown Toronto, was a blaze of crimson red and crisp white this year in honour of Canada.
With Travelweekʻs Canadian past, present and future – and with Canada Day just around the corner – the theme resonated with party guests, with many decked out in their red and white finest.
Industry colleagues and friends representing tourism boards, airlines, tour operators, cruise lines and more caught up with easy conversation, enjoyed a delicious Mediterranean dinner catered by Montfort’s Bishara Arraf and his team, and took in the beautiful views of the city and Lake Ontario.
“We’re here to celebrate the arrival of summer, and to renew friendships, and to enjoy this fantastic rooftop space and great food. We’re also here to thank you, our treasured industry partners. We couldn’t do what we do without you,” said Travelweekʻs Editor, Kathryn Folliott, in her welcome remarks.
“Weʻre also here to celebrate Canada. Canada Day is less than a week away and I know we’re all feeling even more patriotic than usual these days,” she added.
“Canadians used to get teased about our politeness, our sense of decency and fairness. Now Canada is admired and applauded for those same qualities. At Travelweek we’d like to think we run our business with that same sense of decency and fairness that all Canadians share. We’re proud that we’re a Canadian company, from the very start back in 1973.”
Travelweek Publisher Devin Kinasz says The Travelweek Groupʻs wide-ranging portfolio of products ensures that supplier campaigns reach travel advisors no matter where their clients are travelling – in Canada or elsewhere – this year and beyond. “Weʻre read by Canadian travel advisors from coast to coast to coast,” says Kinasz. “That national reach means a lot to us and itʻs something weʻll continue to focus on in the years to come.”
