TORONTO — Two bills — House Bill 1221 and House Bill 7033 — could soon disrupt tourism promotion in Florida, according to Newsweek.
The American magazine reports that the bills aim to dissolve Florida’s tourism development councils and redirect their tax revenues toward reducing property taxes.
Supporters of the legislation believe the funds could help ease the financial burden on residents, while the tourism industry argues that such a cut in funding could seriously harm tourism and jeopardize a crucial source of revenue for the state.
The bill has already passed the Florida House of Representatives and now awaits review by the Senate.
