TORONTO — The Guadeloupe Islands celebrated Air Canada’s upcoming Toronto flights – and shared the latest news about the French Caribbean destination – at an industry event yesterday at Toronto’s Lucie restaurant.
Guadeloupe is in fact home to six islands in all, “where the average temperature is 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and the sea temperature is 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Do you want to know what is the best time to discover Guadeloupe? I’m happy to say that it’s all year round,” said Rodrigue Solitude, CEO of the Guadeloupe Islands Tourism Board, who led the delegation’s visit to Canada.
Guadeloupe’s booming tourism industry welcomes more than 1 million visitors annually.
Air Canada’s new direct seasonal service from Toronto to Guadeloupe is set to run Dec. 20, 2025 – April 30, 2026, on B737 MAX aircraft with 169 seats. Nonstop flights are also available from Montreal with Air Canada, Air France and Air Transat during the winter season, while Air Transat will debut service from Quebec City beginning Feb. 18, 2026. Travellers can reach the islands in roughly five hours from Toronto, Montreal or Quebec City.
Solitude listed Guadeloupe’s many draws, including its historical sites, cultural events, and of course, the beaches. “Guadeloupe boasts high-standard infrastructures, a rich gastronomy, and is home to the most beautiful Carnival in the world,” he added.
ACV’s Director of Product Development, Rose Gonzalez, was also on hand to showcase ACV’s various accommodation options in Guadeloupe, including the four-star Mahogany Hotel Residence & Spa and Le Créole Beach Hotel & Spa. ACV’s recently released 2025-2026 Digital Sun Brochure has all the details.
Guadeloupe is home to some 380,000 inhabitants, and the language is French Creole, with English widely spoken in tourist areas. The currency is the euro. “It’s the land of sugar cane, historic distilleries and everything from scuba diving to bird watching to snorkelling,” said Solitude. “Our famous volcano is La Grande Soufrière, plus we have five botanical gardens, 1,000 flavours to savour and the best rum houses in the Caribbean.”
More hotel rooms are coming to Guadeloupe, notably at Accor’s very first Pullman property, the Pullman Royal Key Wellness Resort, set to open on Guadeloupe’s Grande Terre in 2026.
Earlier this month VoX International announced that the Guadeloupe Islands had joined its roster of clients. The Toronto-based agency will oversee strategic public relations and travel trade and consumer marketing initiatives to boost awareness of the archipelago among Canadian travellers and industry professionals.
