FITCuba goes hybrid for 2026, with virtual sessions May 7-8

TORONTO — The Cuba Tourist Board will host a hybrid version of FITCuba this year.

An annual fixture on the travel industry calendar, FITCuba is the island’s international tourism fair and a popular event for the Canadian travel trade.

Taking place May 7 – 9, this year’s event “celebrates Cuba’s unwavering resilience and its heartfelt commitment to welcoming back its most cherished visitors: Canadians.”

As Gihana Galindo, Director of the Cuba Tourist Board in Toronto, puts it: “Cuba remains a destination of spirit and strength. We are eager to strengthen our collaborations and we can’t wait to welcome Canadians once again with warm shores and open arms.”

Canada’s airlines repatriated thousands of travellers back to Canada in early February, after Cuba warned that due to the oil blockade it would no longer have enough fuel to refuel international aircraft.

Air Canada has suspended its Cuba operations until Nov. 1. Hola Sun has also temporarily suspended its Cuba operations. Sunwing Vacations and Vacances WestJet Québec and Air Transat so far plan to restart vacation operations into Cuba effective June 20.

“For decades, a unique bond has connected Canada and Cuba. As the island looks forward to resuming full-scale operations, FITCuba 2026 serves as a vibrant invitation to keep that special friendship alive,” said a statement from the tourist board’s Toronto office.

Here’s a look at the FITCuba 2026 program …

. May 7-8: Professional Business Sessions (Virtual) – Two days of online networking, allowing tour operators, agencies, and airlines to connect seamlessly from anywhere in the world. Industry professionals can access the specialized platform at fitcuba.net.

. May 9: Public Day  – FITCuba’s in-person event will take place in Josone Park in Varadero. “This public day invites everyone to experience Cuba’s diverse tourism offerings firsthand through interactive showcases and spirited cultural activities.”
