SANTO DOMINGO — The Dominican Republic has once again extended passport validity for certain nationalities, including Canadians.
The measures are periodically updated and are now valid until Dec. 31, 2026.
Under the regulations, visitors from select countries including Canada can enter the D.R. using their current passports, which must remain valid throughout their stay and departure from the country. The measure aims to boost tourism by eliminating the previous requirement of passports having at least six months’ validity upon entry.
According to an update from the D.R. tourism board, this rule is inclusive for all naturalized visitors (citizens), permanent residents, holders of a work visa, a study visa including a multiple-entry tourist visa or any other legal document allowing them to reside or legally enter Canada.
