THE GRAND SHOWDOWN | DRIGGS | JANUARY 21-22, 2026

Witness the adrenaline rush of watching fearless skiers being pulled by a galloping horse through an obstacle course during the one-of-a-kind sport of skijoring. The Grand Showdown, usually held in late January, welcomes top teams from across the western U.S. to compete in this exhilarating event framed by the majestic Teton mountains.

 

MCCALL WINTER CARNIVAL | MCCALL | JANUARY 30-FEBRUARY 8, 2026

Tucked between the southern shore of Payette Lake and the Payette National Forest, McCall is a charming vacation destination any time of year. In winter, McCall transitions into a snow-covered wonderland that provides the perfect setting for the McCall Winter Carnival. Highlights include life-size snow-andice sculptures, a torchlight parade, fireworks over the Payette Lake, live music, and more. The 10-day festival alternates between dates in late January through February.

FIRE & ICE WINTERFEST | LAVA HOT SPRINGS | FEBRUARY 7-8, 2026

Fire & Ice Winterfest, held annually the first full weekend in February in the intimate and relaxing resort town of Lava Hot Springs, brings thrills and chills as one of the quirkiest festivals in the U.S. Join the daring and icy Polar Bear Float down the Portneuf River and warm up in the steaming geothermal pools the town is famous for.

 

TREEFORT MUSIC FEST | BOISE | MARCH 25-29, 2026

Treefort Music Fest is an annual music and arts festival fueled by the passion of discovery. The festivities take over downtown Boise every March. Blending the senses between nine forts covering music, film, food, beer, yoga, tech, and art from national and regional creators, the festival has something for everyone. Over 400 well-known and up-and-coming bands from nearly every genre mix with artists, authors, chefs, brewers, teachers, locals and visitors in this unique five-day experience.

 

SAVOR IDAHO | BOISE | JUNE 7, 2026

Savor Idaho, held annually on the second Sunday in June during Idaho Wine Month, gives visitors a unique opportunity to sample the best Idaho has to offer in wine. For one day only, the vast array of Idaho’s wineries and cideries gather in the picturesque Idaho Botanical Gardens to pour their offerings and showcase the full breadth of the state’s growing wine industry.

 

MALAD VALLEY WELSH FESTIVAL | MALAD CITY | JUNE 26-28, 2026

Malad City has the largest per capita concentration of Welsh ancestry outside of Wales. Each year, descendants of Welsh immigrants celebrate the customs and traditions of their culture at the Malad Valley Welsh Festival in rural southeast Idaho. Festival activities include Welsh heritage games, wagon tours, crafts, and food. This annual event falls during the last weekend of June.
