OTTAWA — The Canada Strong Pass is back for the holiday season, offering Canadian families discounted access to rail travel, museums and national parks until Jan. 15, 2026.
Designed to help offset rising living costs, the federal initiative gives travellers a chance to explore the country together while spending less.
First launched in summer 2025, the pass delivered measurable results nationwide, including a 6.5% increase in VIA Rail ridership, a 13% boost in visits to Parks Canada sites and an average 15% rise in national museum visits. Its holiday return allows families to visit cultural, historical and outdoor attractions either free or at reduced rates.
During the promotional period, the pass includes free admission for children aged 17 and under at national museums, the Plains of Abraham Museum and participating provincial and territorial galleries. Young adults aged 18 to 24 receive 50% off admission. VIA Rail is offering free travel for children when accompanied by an adult, along with a 25% discount for young adults. Parks Canada is also providing free admission to all sites plus a 25% discount on camping fees.
Marc Miller, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister responsible for Official Languages, said, “After the success of the Canada Strong Pass this summer, our government is reintroducing it to help families save money over the holidays and discover the iconic sites and museums that make our country proud. Whether it’s exploring a national park, visiting a museum or taking a train ride, let’s take advantage of this festive season to celebrate what makes Canada strong and beautiful, and to create unforgettable memories with our loved ones!”
The government confirmed that the Canada Strong Pass will also return for summer 2026, reinforcing its commitment to affordability, family travel and supporting national institutions and tourism partners.
The pass does not require sign-ups or physical cards. Travellers can simply visit participating attractions to access the benefits, though schedules and seasonal closures may vary. Institutions taking part include Canada’s national museums, provincial and territorial museum partners, the National Battlefields Commission, VIA Rail and more than 200 Parks Canada-administered locations.
