LOS ANGELES — Viking is expanding its river fleet with the arrival of two new ships designed to elevate the experience of exploring Europe and Egypt.
The Viking Honir, which will sail the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers, and Viking Thoth, set to sail the Nile River, were officially presented for delivery earlier this month during ceremonies in Switzerland and Egypt, respectively.
“We are proud to welcome the Viking Honir and the Viking Thoth to our growing river fleet,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman and CEO of Viking. “With the arrival of these elegant new ships, we are pleased to offer even more curious travellers the opportunity to explore some of the world’s most iconic waterways in Viking comfort.”
VIKING HONIR
Accommodating 190 guests in 95 staterooms, the Viking Honir is Viking’s newest identical Viking Longship. Built for the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers, the ship offers elegant Scandinavian design and industry-leading features, including a distinctive square bow, three full decks, an indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace, asymmetric corridor, and true two-room suites. Its inaugural itineraries include Passage to Eastern Europe, Rhine Getaway and Christmas on the Rhine.
VIKING THOTH
Hosting 82 guests in 41 staterooms, the Viking Thoth is designed for the Nile River and will sail Viking’s popular Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary. It is an identical sister ship to the Viking Osiris, Viking Aton, Viking Sobek, Viking Hathor and Viking Amun. Together, these ships are among the most modern vessels navigating the Nile.
Based on the company’s committed orderbook, Viking expects to take delivery of 23 additional river ships by 2028 and 10 additional ocean ships by 2031. By that time, the fleet will include 112 river ships and 23 ocean and expedition vessels.
