Oceania takes delivery of Allura, confirms two more Sonata Class ships

MIAMI — Oceania Cruises has officially taken delivery of Oceania Allura, the eighth ship in its fleet and the second in the Allura Class.

Designed to carry 1,200 guests, Oceania Allura follows sister ship Oceania Vista, launched in May 2023, and continues the brand’s evolution as a leader in small-ship luxury travel. Its inaugural season includes 26 voyages covering 92 destinations across the Mediterranean, Caribbean and North America, with the maiden voyage set to depart this week, on July 18, from Trieste to Athens. The ship will be christened in Miami in November by a group of Food & Wine magazine’s Best New Chefs alumni.

“Oceania Allura is our most innovative and luxurious ship to date. She represents our bold vision for an entirely new generation of luxury travel experiences. As always, at the heart of this beautiful ship is an extraordinary crew dedicated to providing exceptional cuisine, personalized, intuitive service and immersive enrichment opportunities for our guests,” said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises.

During a ceremony held at the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa, Italy, the line also confirmed an order for two new Sonata Class ships, expanding its next-generation luxury fleet through 2035.

CULINARY INNOVATION

At the centre of Oceania Cruises’ offering is its culinary program, which continues to expand with the debut of Oceania Allura. Among the highlights on board is the Crêperie, a first for the brand, serving authentic French crêpes, Belgian and bubble waffles and Italian-style sundaes. The beloved French venue Jacques returns with updated menus, including duck à l’orange with Grand Marnier and hand-cut beef tartare prepared tableside.

The Red Ginger restaurant now features a selection of Japanese-Peruvian fusion dishes – also known as Nikkei cuisine – ranging from tuna ceviche to braised short rib with lomo saltado and crispy soft-shell crab bao.

The Grand Dining Room introduces more than 270 new recipes, including 30 additions to the breakfast menu, such as an expanded eggs Benedict section. The ship also launches a new Gerard Bertrand Wine Pairing Luncheon, offering curated wine and food pairings from the acclaimed French winemaker.

SONESTA CLASS

Oceania Allura will be followed in summer 2027 by the line’s first Sonata Class vessel, Oceania Sonata, and then by its sister ship, Oceania Arietta, in 2029. Each Sonata Class vessel will carry approximately 1,390 guests.

At the delivery ceremony, Montague confirmed two additional Sonata Class ships have been ordered, with delivery scheduled for 2032 and 2035.

ONBOARD OCEANIA ALLURA

At 804 feet in length and over 68,000 gross tons, Oceania Allura offers a staff-to-guest ratio of two crew members for every three guests, including one chef for every eight guests. Culinary operations account for half the ship’s crew.

The ship’s 290-square-foot standard staterooms are the most spacious at sea in their category. Other enhancements include a relocated library on Deck 14 with sweeping sea views and residential-style furnishings, and the new LYNC Digital Center, offering complimentary Starlink-powered classes in digital storytelling led by onboard Digital Concierges.
