Celestyal delays repositioning of Celestyal Discovery amid Middle East conflict

TORONTO — The ongoing military conflict in the Middle East has forced Celestyal to delay the repositioning of Celestyal Discovery ahead of the start of its Mediterranean program.

According to the cruise line, all guests have safely disembarked from the ship in Dubai, UAE as well as from Celestyal Journey in Doha, Qatar. Both vessels are fully operational, and their departure from the region will take place accordance with guidance from relevant authorities.

As a result of the delay, the March 27 (three-night ‘Iconic Greek Islands’) and March 30 (four-night ‘Iconic Greek Islands) sailings operated by Celestyal Discovery have been cancelled. Arrangements are being finalized for the ship’s repositioning to the Mediterranean ahead of the summer season.

Guests booked on these departures will be offered either a full refund or a future cruise credit.

“We kindly ask guests to contact their original travel provider to discuss the available options and next steps,” said Celestyal in a statement.

“We continue to monitor developments closely and remain focused on resuming our planned program as soon as possible. We thank our guests and valued partners for their patience and understanding.”

Celestyal previously cancelled the six remaining Arabian Gulf departures (March 7, 9, 14, 16, 20 and 23) onboard Celestyal Journey.
