OTTAWA — The Canadian Association of Tour Operators (CATO) has launched a new membership recruitment campaign aimed at expanding its national base of tour operator members and strengthening industry advocacy across Canada.
Tour operators of all sizes are invited to join what CATO describes as a unified national voice focused on advancing a strong, competitive and sustainable travel industry.
As the collective representative of Canada’s tour operator community, CATO provides members with advocacy support, industry leadership and collaboration opportunities, along with practical resources designed to help businesses navigate an evolving global travel landscape.
“Tour operators play a vital role in Canada’s travel ecosystem,” said Brett Walker, Chair of the CATO Board of Directors. “By expanding our membership, we strengthen our ability to advocate on behalf of the industry, share best practices and support operators as they navigate regulatory and market challenges.”
CATO membership offers tour operators access to the following:
- Industry Advocacy: A strong national voice representing tour operators’ interests with government, regulators, and key stakeholders
- Networking & Collaboration: Opportunities to connect with fellow operators, suppliers, and industry partners across Canada
- Industry Insights: Updates on market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging opportunities
- Professional Credibility: Alignment with a respected national association that promotes high standards and consumer confidence
- Knowledge Sharing: Forums, meetings, and resources that support innovation and resilience in tour operations.
The recruitment campaign is open to tour operators across all segments, including niche and specialty operators as well as larger, established brands. CATO says it is particularly encouraging participation from companies committed to professionalism, collaboration and the long-term success of Canada’s travel industry.
“Now more than ever, collaboration matters,” added Jean Hébert, Executive Director. “By coming together through CATO, tour operators can amplify their collective impact and help shape the future of travel in Canada.”
Hébert also noted that, under CATO’s Supporting Member category, destination management companies, tourist boards and suppliers are eligible to join the association.
