MIAMI — Carnival Cruise Line is raising its onboard gratuities for sailings departing on or after Sept. 1.
The recommended rate will go from US$12 per person, per day to $12.95 per person, per day, for standard staterooms. For suite passengers the new amount will be $13.95.
Clients who pre-pay their gratuities before May 9 will avoid the hike. As with other cruise lines, who have also raised onboard gratuities, tips are discretionary and can be adjusted at check-out.
Carnival is also adding new services for suite passengers in conjunction with the rate increase, reports TravelMole. Suite guests will receive priority tender service, free in-suite bottled water and one free bag of laundry service per sailing. Carnival is also enhancing its turndown service for suite guests.
