AQV to debut new Great Lakes sailings, celebrates Pacific Northwest season

VANCOUVER — When the fall 2022 season commences, American Queen Voyages will have three new Great Lakes sailings on offer, including its first-ever overnights in Mackinac Island, Montreal, Toronto and Quebec City.

Sailing departures for 15-day voyages include Montreal to Chicago (Sept. 5), Chicago to Montreal (Sept. 18), and a 12-day roundtrip Montreal (Oct. 1). As an added bonus, the 12- and 15-day voyages depart during the heart of autumn onboard the Ocean Navigator, offering spectacular views of regional fall foliage. Per-guest fares start at US$4,499.

“Our valued-travel advisors and guests shared how much they enjoy overnights in port while cruising Europe, so we adjusted these autumn voyages to offer opportunities to explore similar storied ports after the sun goes down here in North America,” shares Shawn Bierdz, chief operating officer, American Queen Voyages. “Sunset strolls along the cobblestone streets of Old Montréal and sipping a warm cider during a Mackinac Island carriage ride are among the moments our guests can now enjoy.”

Ocean Navigator, which can accommodate 202 guests, offers Lakes & Ocean experiences in North America, sailing the Great Lakes, Canada, New England, Southeast USA, Yucatan and Mexico. During these newly announced sailings, the boutique vessel will call on the ports of Clayton, NY and Port Weller, ON for the first time.

The announcement of the new voyages coincides with American Queen Voyages’ launch of its Pacific Northwest sailing season. The American Empress departed Vancouver, WA on March 14, with Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle, Visit Vancouver WA President and CEO Cliff Myers, and Godmother Claudette Waggoner, wife of AQV Founder and Chairman John Waggoner, onboard.

The current sailing features AQV Culinary Ambassador Regina Charboneau as a special guest. Waggoner and Charboneau hosted a tour and luncheon onboard that included Pacific Northwest cuisine by Charboneau.

Vancouver, WA, situated across the Columbia River from Portland, serves as a homeport of the American Empress with 40 sailings scheduled from March through mid-December in 2022. AQV operates nine-day, one-way itineraries between Vancouver and Spokane along with seven-day roundtrip voyages from Vancouver. Featured stops include Astoria, OR; Stevenson, WA; The Dales, OR; Richland, WA; and Clarkston, WA. Guests enjoy a pre-cruise hotel night, unlimited included guided tours, lectures, and evening entertainment.
