WestJet’s launches memory-implantation headsets on April 1

CALGARY — Leave it to WestJet to launch a brand new way of travelling without ever leaving the couch.

Launched coincidentally on April Fool’s Day (April 1), the airline has unveiled ‘MemorEase,’ a pair of headsets that incorporate the latest in AI technology to “implant vacation memories directly into guests’ brains.”

Users can choose from an expansive collection of AI-generated vacation memories, from white sand beaches or big city lights. According to WestJet, travellers would be “a fool” not to check out MemorEase at westjet.com/memorease

“We know how busy Canadians are and that sometimes – despite best intentions – getting away for a vacation can be tough,” says Jennifer Callegaro, WestJet’s Director of Marketing. “With MemorEase, Canadians won’t have to choose between work obligations and family memories. Now everyone – no matter how busy – can enjoy a vacation they’ll never forget.”

Though AI has taken travel to new extremes, nothing will ever replace the feeling of a real getaway, adds Callegaro. As such, travellers can save on flights and vacation packages to more than 50 sun destinations with WestJet’s Keep It Real Sale, on now until April 2 (11:59 p.m. MT).

WestJet has a long history of launching innovative new products and offerings on April 1. These include ‘Send a WestJetter’ that includes an actual human WestJetter to take the place of top tier members at work meetings and daily appointments, as well as RALFH (Robotic Automated Light Food Handler), an in-flight food dispenser that incorporates facial-recognition and an audio conveyance system. The airline also announced on March 31, 2017 that it would be rebranding as ‘Canada Air,’ with the tagline “The most Canadian Canadian airline.”

Happy April 1!
