MIAMI — With the recent wave of flight cancellations caused by the U.S. government shutdown disrupting travel plans across North America, Virgin Voyages is extending additional flexibility to guests who can’t make their scheduled sailings.
While the shutdown has ended, the FAA says the 6% flight cuts will stay in place while officials assess whether the air traffic system can safely return to normal operations.
Acknowledging the challenges travellers are facing, the adults-only cruise line is providing peace of mind with a policy that allows guests to receive an immediate future voyage credit if they are unable to reach their departure due to a cancelled flight. Travellers simply need to contact Sailor Services and provide airline cancellation confirmation to qualify.
The cruise line says it will also assist guests in exploring rebooking options to help them join their planned voyage when possible.
While Virgin Voyages can’t control flight cancellations, the company says its focus remains on supporting guests throughout their journey.
“This isn’t what you signed up for or what you deserve, and it certainly isn’t your fault,” reads a company statement. “When things get back to normal, we’ll be right here, ready to take you away from all of it. You’re definitely going to need it. The smiles are on us.”
