TORONTO — Sunwing Vacations and Vacances WestJet Québec plan to restart vacation operations into Cuba effective June 20, 2026.
Packages will be available for Varadero and Cayo Coco, from Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City.
WestJet Group says all other Cuba destinations remain cancelled until November.
Currently the Canadian government’s travel advisory level for Cuba remains at orange (avoid non-essential travel).
This week’s island-wide blackout is the latest of many blackouts, as well as fuel and supply shortages. U.S. sanctions on Venezuela included a stop to oil exports to Cuba, and the U.S. administration in January warned of tariffs on any country that sells or provides oil to Cuba.
Trump has ramped up “takeover” talks in recent days, while President Díaz-Canel said any attempt by the U.S. to takeover the island would be met with “impregnable resistance.”
Air Transat so far says it will resume Cuba flights on June 20. Air Transat is also reducing its Cuba capacity for the summer season as a precautionary measure. Air Canada’s Cuba flights aren’t set to restart until Nov. 1.
