Porter launches five new sun routes from Ottawa

OTTAWA — Porter Airlines is expanding its winter schedule from Ottawa International Airport (YOW), adding five new nonstop routes that connect travellers to Mexico, the Caribbean and Costa Rica.

The launches, all rolling out within one week, strengthen Porter’s position as the largest carrier operating from YOW this winter.

Service is beginning to Puerto Vallarta, Nassau, Cancun, Liberia and Grand Cayman. With these additions, Porter becomes the only airline offering nonstop service from Ottawa to both Grand Cayman and Liberia.

“The launch of these routes is a celebration of our growth to new regions and another demonstration of Porter’s commitment to Ottawa-Gatineau,” said Kevin Jackson, president, Porter Airlines. “This winter, Porter is offering more flights from YOW than any other carrier, serving 24 non-stop routes. We are giving local travellers more options than ever, while enjoying the elevated level of service and style that only Porter provides.”

All flights are operated by the 132-seat Embraer E195-E2, featuring a two-by-two layout with no middle seats. Porter’s onboard product includes complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, premium Canadian snacks and free high-speed WiFi.

The new routes begin on the following schedule:

  • Nassau (NAS): Starting Dec. 13, 1x/weekly
  • Puerto Vallarta (PVR): Starting Dec. 13, 6x/ weekly
  • Cancun (CUN): Starting Dec. 17, 6x/week
  • Liberia (LIR): Starting Dec. 17, daily
  • Grand Cayman (GCM): Starting Dec. 19, 2x/weekly

The carrier continues to build a robust winter network from Ottawa, with existing nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa, plus new flights to Miami and Phoenix set to launch in 2026.
