Porter expands out of YHM with first international routes to Florida and Mexico

TORONTO — Porter Airlines is significantly expanding its operations from John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM) with the launch of new international, nonstop service to Florida and Mexico.

The airline begins its international offerings from YHM today, Dec. 12, with flights to Orlando (MCO) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL), marking the first-ever direct international routes from the Canadian city. Both destinations will operate three times per week, with departures starting today and tomorrow, respectively.

The international expansion continues later this month, with inaugural flights to Mexico. Service to Cancun (CUN) will commence on Dec. 17, operating up to four times per week, while flights to Puerto Vallarta (PVR) will start on Dec. 18, with two weekly roundtrips.

Flights will be operated on Porter’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which features a two-by-two seating configuration and free, fast Wi-Fi for all passengers. The airline is also known for its award-winning elevated economy experience, offering complimentary beer and wine served in real glassware, as well as free premium snacks. Passengers flying on PorterReserve fares will enjoy fresh and healthy meals included, while PorterClassic fares offer meals for purchase.

Porter Airlines first launched service from Hamilton in June 2025, initially offering four domestic routes to Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax and Vancouver. These destinations remain available year-round, with the new international routes adding to the airline’s growing network.

The full schedule out of Hamilton now includes:

  • Calgary (YYC) – 5x weekly
  • Edmonton (YEG) – 5x weekly
  • Halifax (YHZ) – 7x weekly
  • Vancouver (YVR) – 7x weekly
  • Orlando (MCO) – 3x weekly
  • Fort Lauderdale (FLL) – 3x weekly
  • Cancun (CUN) – 4x weekly
  • Puerto Vallarta (PVR) – 2x weekly

“The introduction of these four new routes at YHM deepens our commitment to the Greater Hamilton region. In less than six months, we’re giving travellers even more options to fly with Porter from their home airport – whether it’s across Canada, or to sunny southern destinations – while enjoying an elevated economy onboard experience that stands out across North America,” said Andrew Pierce, vice president of network planning and reporting at Porter Airlines.
