Billy Bishop Airport introduces enhanced screenings for ferry passengers

“A very interesting vision”: Carney weighs in on Billy Bishop jets, expansion talk

TORONTO — Prime Minister Mark Carney says Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s push for jets at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is “a very interesting vision.”

Carney spoke to reporters yesterday alongside Premier Ford and Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow, in Toronto at a housing announcement.

As reported earlier this month, the opening of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport’s U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance facility came with renewed talk – from Ontario’s premier – about jet aircraft and expansion at the airport.

Carney said yesterday: “It’s a very interesting vision, big possibilities there.” He added: “It’s a shared jurisdiction and we’re engaged in discussions with the province of Ontario.”

Talk of expansion and jet aircraft at BBTCA is a hot potato that’s been tossed around for more than a decade. Jets are coming to Billy Bishop “one way or another,” said Ford.
