‘Tis the season to be thankful

As we approach the end of 2023 (where did it go?) reminders of the festive season are everywhere.

So how do you plan to thank your clients – and others who work with you?

The easiest, and most affordable, is of course a handwritten Christmas card, or generic card for clients who don’t celebrate Christmas. Once ubiquitous, cards now are rarer and yours, with heartfelt wishes, and delivered by old-fashioned snail mail, is sure to stand out.

There’s a host of ideas for gifts. Travel accessories are always appropriate, and multi-plug wall chargers, classy bag tags and RFID blocking passport cases are certainly in the ‘sweet spot’ price-wise.

Subscriptions to travel magazines are always a nice idea as well, and one that surely will have your clients remembering you all year long whenever the latest issue lands in the mailbox.

A visit to an airport lounge before a flight always sets the tone for a happy vacation, and Plaza Premium lounges have locations in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal. Your clients will be sure to raise a glass to you as they enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, courtesy of your year-end greeting.

And if like many advisors you have clients who are travelling over the holiday season, having the hotel or cruise ship send a bottle of wine, flowers or box of chocolates to their room or stateroom is sure to make a lasting impression!

Don’t forget your suppliers when you are thanking those around you. A festive email might be the best way to reach them rather than sending a card as so many of them are rarely in office.

And how about … your head office? I suspect there’s a colleague or two who has helped you out with a challenge, or fixed a problem, or just impressed the socks off you with their wonderful attitude. They deserve your thanks (and I’ll bet you’ll be remembered all year!)
