Five of the scariest places on earth

Snake Island

Ilha da Queimada Grande in Brazil has earned the nickname Snake Island for having endemic Golden Lancehead Vipers — one of the most poisonous snakes in the world.

So how many poisonous snakes does it take to earn the nickname Snake Island? One for the every square metre is the conservative estimate, while local legend puts it at five per square metre.

It’s illegal to visit the island, but why would you want too? Honestly, this was the hardest place for me to research – I hate snakes.
