Blue Diamond temporarily closes resorts in Mexico, Central America and Caribbean

TORONTO — Blue Diamond Resorts has made the “difficult but necessary decision” to temporarily close its hotels throughout Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean due to COVID-19.

No reopening date can be confirmed at this time, says President Jordi Pelfort.

“What we are experiencing is an extraordinary proactive response to a global pandemic o a scale that has never truly been seen before,” he adds. “As we come to face one of the most challenging situations we have ever endured in our lives, we all must work together and take the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”

Below are the scheduled temporary closures, determined based on the soonest possible safe departure of all guests:

Blue Diamond’s flexible booking policies remain in place. Guests travelling to any of its properties and who booked directly can reschedule their trip with no penalty if communicated 48 hours before the original check-in. Plus, the policy allows guests unable to travel to the destination to cancel their existing reservation with no penalties 48 hours before check-in.

Existing reservations that were made by travel agents through tour operators will require the travel agency to contact the applicable tour operator to determine the exact conditions of each booking.
