Jason Merrithew stepping down from top post at Merit Travel Group

TORONTO — Merit Travel Group has announced it is transitioning its leadership team, with President Jason Merrithew leaving the company, effective Nov. 15.

Dirk Baerts, Chief Operating Officer, will take over leadership of Merit Travel.

Merrithew started working with Merit Travel Group over 14 years ago, filling a part-time position while in school. Helping to grow the company over the past eight years in a full-time team leadership position, has has led the company through acquisitions, re-positioning, steady growth and success, most recently as President of Merit Travel Group’s Leisure Division.

“We want to thank Jason for his leadership and achievements in growing Merit Travel to the industry leading company it is today. We wish him well as he pursues new opportunities,” said Phil Sproul, Chief Executive Officer for Merit Travel Group.

“It’s been an honour and a pleasure to be part of the Merit Travel Group story, a company Founded by my parents Michael Merrithew and Louise de Grandpre, and to have been an active part of building this remarkable company. Moving on is never an easy decision, but it is time for me to move on to the next chapter of my career. I wish the company and all the dedicated employees the very best,” said Merrithew.
