Did you know? This is the single most expensive day to fly in summer

CALABASAS — If you’re looking to save your clients a pretty penny this year, you should advise them to fly either before or after the Fourth of July.

That’s because according to CheapAir.com, which analyzed hundreds of thousands of summer fares, Sunday, July 9 will be the most expensive day to travel during the season. According to CEO Jeff Klee, the average airfare for the summer is US$384, while fares on July 9 costs nearly $100 more.

He said Sundays in general are more expensive, with both business and leisure travellers flying out. But this day in particular will put a dent in fliers’ wallets because it immediately follows July 4, which falls on a Wednesday this year. As such, many travellers are anticipated to make an extended weekend that week.

But it’s not all bad news. Klee also noted that 2017 summer fares are tracking about $20 less per ticket than they were last year at this time. It’s not much, but at least it’s something.
