MADRID — What would you do when faced with the prospect of missing your flight? For one passenger at a Spanish airport, he went so far as to flag down his plane on the airport tarmac.

The man, believed to be a Bolivian national, was late for his Ryanair flight to the Canary Islands. In a crazy attempt to catch his flight, ee resorted to jumping onto the ground from a boarding bridge and running after his plane at Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport. Incredibly, he was allowed to board the plane, reports The Guardian.

The dangerous stunt was caught on video by airport workers and posted on Facebook. According to one Civil Guard spokesman, the passenger is now likely to face a very high fine.

“This particular passenger was missing a Ryanair flight and, unbelievably, skipped several security protocols established by AENA in their airports. We’re talking about level 4 security protocols!” the Facebook post said.

A spokesman from AENA told The Guardian that the passenger had reached the gate with his boarding pass after clearing security. “He broke through a fire escape, the doors opened and he got out that way.”

The Mail Online reported that the passenger was allowed to board the plane but was stopped when he reached Gran Canaria.
