Carnival announces partnerships with NFL, Cruise Critic

EWING — Carnival Cruise Line announced two fun partnerships: one with the NFL’s Houston Texans, the beloved American football team, and another with Cruise Critic, the online cruise review website and cruise community.

The exclusive multi-year partnership with the NFL’s Houston Texans, makes Carnival the Official Cruise Line of the popular NFL franchise and expands the line’s presence in the fast-growing Texas market.

To celebrate the partnership and the arrival of Galveston’s newest cruise ship, Carnival and the Houston Texans are hosting the “Mom’s Dash to the Splash” event aboard Carnival Breeze when it makes its Texas debut on Mother’s Day, May 8. Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and linebacker Brian Cushing will lead two teams of local Texas moms selected via an online contest in an exciting head-to-head water slide race for charity.

“We are extremely proud to partner with such a world-class organization,” said Greg Grissom, Vice President of Corporate Development of the Houston Texans. “Family is one of the most important cornerstones of our organization, and no one embodies family better than Carnival Cruise Line.”

Also announced, the partnership with Cruise Critic, a leading cruise review site and online cruise community, with Carnival Cruise Line offering its members access to exclusive onboard events.

The partnership marks the sixth cruise line to partner with Cruise Critic for its popular Meet & Mingle events. As part of the partnership, Carnival Cruise Line will host private parties on cruises of seven days or longer for Cruise Critic members who have signed up prior to sailing – a private room and refreshments and snacks will be provided by the cruise line.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Carnival,” said Mike Ewing, General Manager of Cruise Critic. “Extending our Meet & Mingle program to thousands of Carnival cruisers online offers a unique opportunity for Cruise Critic members to meet as they cruise together. Cruising is an incredibly social form of travel – with tens of thousands taking to our forums each year to meet ahead of their sailings – and our Meet & Mingle events offer cruise lines the opportunity to meet some of their most passionate fans.”

In addition to Carnival, five other lines offer official Meet & Mingle programs: Silversea Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Crystal Cruises and Royal Caribbean International.

To attend a Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle, cruisers must be registered Cruise Critic members and sign up for the event on the Cruise Critic community forums. Cruise Critic membership is free and open to the public.
