St. Kitts builds momentum in Canada with strong airlift and creative partnerships

TORONTO — St. Kitts is heading into the winter travel season with new momentum, boosted by expanded airlift from Canada and creative partnerships that are drawing attention to the island’s distinctive blend of authenticity and adventure.

The destination was recently ranked number two on Skyscanner’s 2026 Trending Destinations list for Canadian travellers, with searches for St. Kitts increasing by 170% over last year.

According to Skyscanner, enhanced airlift and a simplified eTA entry system have played a key role in St. Kitts’ growing popularity among Canadian travellers. During a recent visit to Toronto, Marsha T. Henderson, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Urban Development for St. Kitts, confirmed a 42% increase in seat capacity on its seasonal, nonstop Toronto–St. Kitts service for winter 2025–26. The route will operate from Nov. 15 through April 25, upgrading from a 136-seat Airbus A319 to the larger 201-seat Airbus A321.

“The increased air capacity speaks volumes to the confidence the airline has in the destination’s authentic tourism product,” said the Minister. “Canadians stay longer in St. Kitts than any other travellers, so we anticipate this added capacity will be a welcome option for those seeking alternative destinations this winter.”

Minister Henderson also attributed St. Kitts’ growing popularity to strong partnerships, particularly with the travel trade. Through a new Travel Advisor Board, the first of its kind for the destination, travel advisors can provide feedback, share insights and contribute to the island’s tourism strategy. It builds on the success of the award-winning St. Kitts Your Way (SKY) program, which includes training, immersive webinars, rewards and FAM trips designed to support advisor engagement.

CREATIVE COLLABORATION

St. Kitts is taking a bold approach to consumer engagement with a new collaboration that blends travel inspiration with Canadian craftsmanship. Partnering with Toronto-based fine jewellery brand bluboho, the destination launched an exclusive collection inspired by the spirit of travel and the island’s natural beauty.

Unveiled over two days at bluboho’s flagship store on Queen Street, the collaboration was introduced to media, influencers and consumers through events that featured Kittitian cuisine, music and culture. The debut collection, titled ‘safe travels, wild heart,’ includes charms inspired by St. Christopher, the patron saint of travel and the origin of St. Kitts’ name. Two additional chapters of the collaboration will roll out over the next year, with items available in bluboho stores across Canada and online at www.bluboho.com.

At the Toronto launch, Minister Henderson highlighted the partnership as a creative way to increase visibility for the island, especially ahead of the busy winter travel season. The collaboration also aligns with the shared values of sustainability and ethical practices that both St. Kitts and bluboho embrace.

“Partnering with bluboho helps us create a presence where it is least expected and to appear in ways that sparks curiosity about our island,” said the Minister. “Whether you crave the thrill of hiking volcanic peaks, wandering sunlit secluded shores, or feeling the warmth of our local culture, St. Kitts is a haven for soulful, curious travellers who seek serenity, adventure and authenticity when they travel, and partnerships like this help us tell that story in creative and meaningful ways.”
