Travel & Tourisms Instructor

IBT College is seeking a travel & tourisms instructor! 

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons while fostering a positive learning environment. This role requires a commitment to student success and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.

Duties
Below are the modules that T&T instructors need to teach:

  • Domestic Airline Tariff and Ticketing
  • International Airline Tariff and Ticketing
  • Sales & Marketing
  • Travel Agency Operations
  • World Geography
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and student needs.
  • Deliver instructional content in an engaging manner, utilizing various teaching techniques.
  • Assess student progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Create a supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress and concerns.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational trends.

Other requirements:
Under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005, an instructor for a vocational program must have:

At least 48 months of work or teaching experience in the vocation in the past 10 years. This can be 4 years of work experience, 4 years of teaching experience or a combination of both or At least 10 years of experience, working or teaching in travel agency, plus one of the following qualifications:

  • An Ontario bachelor’s degree (or equivalent degree outside Ontario)
  • A certificate of qualification issued under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 (or equivalent Canadian certificate)
  • Status as a graduate of an Ontario college of applied arts and technology or registered career college (or equivalent institution outside Ontario)
  • Skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information to students.
  • Ability to engage students through innovative teaching methods and interactive activities.
  • Patience and adaptability in addressing diverse learning styles and challenges.
  • Proficiency in classroom management techniques to maintain a productive learning environment.
  • Organizational skills for lesson planning, record keeping, and administrative tasks.
  • A background in the subject area being taught is preferred but not mandatory.
