Bermuda steps up Canadian sales push with Toronto roadshow

TORONTO — The Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) ramped up its efforts in the Canadian market last month, hosting a pair of targeted sales events in Toronto aimed at strengthening ties with travel advisors, meeting planners and trade partners.

On April 23, four members of Bermuda’s business development team travelled to Toronto for a one-day roadshow that included a Travel Trade Tea Party and a Dinner Experience for event planning professionals.

The BTA delegation – Chris Keane, Director of Sales; Donna Douglas, Assistant Director of Sales; Jamion Simmons, Sales and Events Manager; and Chris Crumpler, Assistant Director of Business Development – were joined by BermudAir’s Business Development Director, Nicole Conrad, who shared the latest updates on the airline’s routes, schedules, and seat capacity from Toronto, Halifax and Montréal.

The first event, a British-inspired Afternoon Tea at The St. Regis Toronto, welcomed 30 travel advisors and representatives from Air Canada and TravelBrands. The BTA team delivered an interactive presentation highlighting what makes the island a standout option for Canadians, including hotel news and airlift developments.

That evening, the BTA hosted 25 meeting planners and corporate travel buyers at an intimate dinner and reception, complete with the island’s signature Dark ‘n Stormy cocktail. The exclusive gathering allowed the sales team to showcase Bermuda’s appeal as a top-tier destination for meetings and events.

“Canada is an important growth market for Bermuda and now is a critical time for the destination to be on the ground and engaging with travel trade partners, advisors and MICE buyers,” said Jamari Douglas, Vice President, Marketing, PR and Communications for Bermuda Tourism Authority. “Connecting in person gives us an opportunity to showcase Bermuda’s signature charm and offerings, while fostering strategic relationships with key players in the market. We truly value our Canadian travel partners and want them to know that the BTA is here to equip them with the insight and confidence they need to sell Bermuda as a premier destination for leisure and business travel.”
